Day 4 continued

We had a wonderful evening in the centro sqaure of san miguel de allende. They were continuing celebrations from New Years. We had a great dinner and fillled out at the local watering hole. It was the first real night of relaxation and its was ccol. I have some cool video of the local festival we attended....check it out..It is quite fun to see such entertainment at 9 pm on a tuesday.

Here are some other pics of the journey.

Day 4

We held up in Santillo for the night and it was a fairly tiring day so we crashed pretty early. We did get a chance to look around and it was a sunday and a cool fiesta was going on in centro aremas plaza. We woke up next morning ready to tackle the bike problems and wow what hospitality the Mexicans had. We asked around a bit and in no time we found a, how do you say, magnifico mecanico. He fixed Randall broken fan in no time. It was estupendo service as they dropped everything and came to the rescue. It was just like the movie motorcycle diaries and props to Armando the mechanic who helped us out. All the locals and bike shop employees gathered around to watch the scene.

After the repairs back on the road. Its been mucho frio with temps with highs only in the mid 50´s. I thought Mexico was supposed to be mucho calor.....EL WRONGO

We kept our bikes inside a courtyard in Matehuala ..another wonderful bit of Mexican hospitality.

We are now off onward and southward to a town called San Miguel de Allande...Cant wait till it warms up.

Day 2,3

We have entered Mexico and started south. Our goal for the day was to get to a lovely town called Saltillo. As we started off, things went fairly smooth until we hit the first set of Mexican federales. They stopped us about 45 minutes into out trip and approached us on the bikes. It always a little more intimidating when you can barely get by in espanol. They asked to see all our papers chit chat awhile if you call it that and we were off. Interesting to note as the federales appraoch you very differently than american officers as they come up and shake hands as we were long term chums..kinda cool.

We then did a bit of highway riding to get into Monclova and that´s when things got a little fun. We stopped for strecth and drink and aqua and started out with broken kill switch and busted fan. So as we left Monclova with two bikes under wraps we had are second running with the Mexican law. As we waited for the guys with the broken bikes to get thru town 3 of us jumped behind an alley to take a leak and wouldn´t you know the federales were there to greet us when we turned around. After about 20 mintues of delightful conversation with many hand gestures including a long snake gesture from the torso they let us go with a warning. Wow 2 strikes were still not out. The federales have been quite patient with the sloppy americans so far.

The trip has begun

Day 1 wow

We started in San antonio TX We never get to Mexico but for good reason we had some minor setbacks that were quite fun. A burning bike that smoked everyone out and a luggage case from the bike that went sailing across highway at 70 mph. ohh what fun its going to be. stay tuned !!!
